How To Climb Ama Dablam

What are you doing for 7 April to 4 May and 1-28 November? Can you join me, our amazing Sherpas, and a fun group of men and women of all ages and abilities on Ama Dablam? Nepal's most famous rock, snow, and ice climb. The Matterhorn of the Himalaya is very climbable on good fixed ropes. Includes extensive training and refresher courses! We Just Returned From Nepal In December 2021 ! Our successful teams climbed Ama Dablam, Lobuche Peak, and trekked to Base Camp. We did No Quarantines, We wore masks, maintained social distance and no one in our group got Covid, nor Corona!

5 time Ama Dablam summiter Dan Mazur and our excellent Sherpa team will conduct training and review all of the necessary skills on small cliffs near base camp. We offer GOOD PRICES: 1) full service, 2) basecamp only, and 3) basic options. We offer flexible dates during NOVEMBER, BEST MONTH OF THE YEAR to climb Ama Dablam with NO CROWDS.

Here is what Sarah says about her climb to Ama Dablam Summit: I found SummitClimb a great company to climb with, very well organized and the Sherpas were fantastic. Overall I really enjoyed the climb and was very comfortable with the professionalism, experience and helpfulness. I felt much safer with them than I have on previous climbs with other companies I have climbed with. The leaders kept in touch to make sure I was happy with everything. An experienced Sherpa guide accompanied me to the summit and back to camp. I highly recommend SummitClimb for your next climbing objective. - Sarah

Camp 1 to Camp 2 (6000 metres/19,800 feet). We scramble-climb along an easy fourth class horizontal rock ridge and around several pinnacles, gaining only 300 metres/1000 feet of elevation

The crux is the Yellow Tower at 6000m, 19,700 ft. With only 2 easy moves (not pitches) of NA class 5.5, French 4, or British Severe, this is not a difficult rock climb. Ama Dablam is often over-graded because the route is very “airy”exposed but it is not technically demanding. Ama Dablam is a very do-able fixed rope climb on solid rock, snow and ice.

Basecamp at 4500 metres / 14,750 feet. we check our gear and do fixed rope training on the small cliffs near basecamp

Camp 2 is at the top of the yellow tower on a rocky ridge-gendarme. There is room for approximately 10 tents in and around Camp 2

Nicole on the way to camp 3. In background you can see camp 2. The climbing is easy, with large hand and footholds, and very good fixed ropes. The exposure is high.

Here is what Scott and Nicole have to say: Dear SummitClimb. Nicole and I had a really great experience on Ama Dablam. I wanted to let you know that we especially enjoyed the leader, as both a leader and a person. He obviously has quite extensive experience. We enjoyed our time with him and felt that he was one of the better leaders that we have had during our climbing expeditions. Cheers! -Scott and Nicole

Setting off to go up from Camp 2 for the fun easy mixed climbing in the Grey Tower.   Climbers on Mushroom Ridge at 6200m / 20,300 ft.

Sometimes we make a camp 2.5 in the Mushroom Ridge.   Our team of Sherpas and members snow climbing around the Dablam at 6400 metres, 21,000 feet.

Jessica and Tenji topping out on Ama Dablam: beautiful day in November.

Daniel, Jessica, Rob, Tenji and Rick on the Summit of Ama Dablam in November. Nuptse, Everest and Lhotse in the background, just 12 kilometres / 20 miles away.

Mount Ama Dablam, 6,812 metres (22,349 feet), located in Nepal, just 12 miles / 20 kilometres from Everest, is perhaps the most visually striking mountain in the world. The Ama Dablam expedition offers members the opportunity to ascend moderately technical, but very climbable snow, ice, and rock surrounded by stunning Himalayan views.
