According to BBC : On Wednesday 26 August, 2026 at 08:40am, in an enormous disaster in the Rasuwa District on the Nepal - Tibet Border, a glacier collapsed, triggering a mudslide and flood which killed at least 500 people and left more than 1500 missing.

A devastating flash flood struck communities in northern Nepal, particularly in Rasuwa District near the Nepal–Tibet border. The disaster caused widespread destruction along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river systems, affecting homes, roads, bridges, businesses, hydropower infrastructure and communities downstream.

The disaster followed a sudden surge of water from the Tibet side of the border. International disaster-monitoring organizations have reported extensive damage in Rasuwa and surrounding areas, while search, rescue and relief operations continue.

Because the situation is developing rapidly, casualty and missing-person figures are changing as emergency teams reach isolated communities and communications are restored. We will update this page as reliable information becomes available.

Emergency Crews and Hospitals are struggling to handle the situation with limited  resources.  A Developing Humanitarian Emergency. The scale of this disaster is still being assessed. Search-and-rescue teams are working to locate missing people, evacuate survivors and reach communities that have been isolated by damaged roads and bridges. The Nepalese authorities, security forces, local communities and humanitarian organizations are involved in the ongoing response.

Current reports indicate that hundreds of people have died or remain missing across the affected Nepal–Tibet region, but figures continue to change.
